NETBANK customers have had difficulty logging in and processing transactions after the service suffered an outage on Friday morning.
Commonwealth Bank has been running the service from a backup facility with lower capacity, according to spokesman Bryan Fitzgerald. This has seen customers intermittently locked out of their accounts on Friday as the lower capacity servers struggled to support normal loads.
Mr Fitzgerald said the bank has been trying to identify the cause of the outage but has so far been unsuccessful. He couldn’t give a timeframe for when it was expected to be fixed.
Mr Fitzgerald apologised for any inconvenience caused to the bank’s customers.
National Australia Bank’s business banking customers were recently unable to pay employees for several days after a software error crippled some of the bank’s systems.

As A person with a disability I think this is unfair, we do not have a commonwealth Bank in our town and the closest is an hour round trip, this would include for me this week a min of $20 in petrol and the inconvenience to my bill paying. The bank charge me a lot of fees to run my account, but can I charge them for having to drive to a branch to pay my bills, or the overdue fees on my bills because they will now be late due to netbank being down, and not being able due to commitments to get to said bank until friday afternoon.
