Finance chief abandons Kaz

Mahesh Sharma | August 19, 2008

KAZ Group's top finance manager has jumped ship to competitor S Central a week after Telstra chief executive Sol Trujillo admitted failing to find a buyer for the telco's troubled services arm.

Finance chief abandons Kaz

Kaz financial controller Ashley Clarkson left several weeks ago and will join S Central on August 27.

Kaz financial controller Ashley Clarkson left several weeks ago, and will join S Central on August 27 in the newly created role of finance and administration executive general manager.

The move follows a recent restructure of Kaz, aimed, Mr Tujillo said, at integrating it more tightly with Telstra. Discussions with several interested buyers went on for more than a year, but ultimately broke down after the parties were unable to agree on a price.

Mr Clarkson's first responsibility will be to help S Central digest a string of acquisitions over the past year.

This would deliver more than $1 million in annual cost savings, according to managing director Peter Mavridis.

S Central state and territory financial managers will now report to Mr Clarkson, who will also set up a national accounting platform.
